Elkhorn is mostly post-1990 — except where it isn’t
Most of Elkhorn was farmland until the 1990s, when development started pushing west of 168th Street. So the dominant pipe story is PVC mains, not cast iron — which means root intrusion and grease, not scale. Once you get east of 180th Street toward older Elkhorn proper (along Main Street and the original townsite), you start finding pre-1970 homes with cast iron under the slab.
What we see most
- PVC main-line clogs in 1990s and 2000s subdivisions — roots at joints, recurring on a 12–18 month cycle. Jetter with root cutter usually buys 2–3 years.
- Heavy grease in newer kitchen drains — Elkhorn’s restaurant scene along Pacific Street and Maple Road runs us a lot of commercial jetting work, often on a quarterly schedule.
- Cast iron descaling for the older Elkhorn-proper homes — same chain-knocker + jet treatment we use everywhere else.
The longer drive, same rate card
Elkhorn is the longest drive from central Omaha in our service area. We don’t bake that into the rate — billing (either tier) starts when we arrive, same as everywhere else. No “outside-the-city” surcharge.
Pre-sale inspections — especially for newer homes
People assume newer = trouble-free. Then they buy, the main backs up six months in, and a $250 standalone scope would have caught it. For any Elkhorn home 25+ years old, a pre-sale scope is the cheapest insurance you’ll find.
